Tips for Music Conductors
Hello, my name is Duane Carter and, on behalf of Expert Village, I will be talking about band conducting. In this series of video clips, I have discussed the basic principles of conducting. I have looked at some of the things that a conductor does to prepare for a concert. However, we have not seen nearly all of the aspects that a conductor goes through. It would be important, if you are interested in conducting, to go back and do your homework, see what's all involved. I've also discussed a little of the history. I've talked about the primary styles used today. We've looked at the basic beat patterns and some of the more complex beat patterns used in conducting. We've also talked about the use of the left hand and the techniques of the right hand and putting those two together. So, get yourself a baton, get in front of a mirror, do some practicing and enjoy.
