Conducting Music with the Three Beat Pattern
Hello, my name is Duane Carter and, on behalf of Expert Village, I will be talking about band conducting. The three beat pattern is used for 3/4 or 9/8. That's duple and triple, respectively. So first, I will do the 3/4 pattern. And that would be, one two three, one two three, one two three one. Subdividing would have it as one and two and three and one and two and three and one and two and three and one and two and three and. If I were to subdivide that in 9/8, it would sound like one two three four five six seven eight nine one two three four five six seven eight nine one two three four five six seven eight nine. And that's the way our three beat pattern would look.
