Conducting Music with the Two Beat Pattern
Hello, my name is Duane Carter and, on behalf of Expert Village, I will be talking about band conducting. First, I will demonstrate the two beat pattern. The two beat pattern can be used for either the duple meter 2/4 or the triple meter 6/8. Either way, the pattern is the same, it's just the subdivisions are different. First, I will do the two beat, 2/4 pattern. That would be one, two, one, two, one two. If I were to subdivide that is would sound like, one and two and one and two and one and two and. I will do the same thing, this time for 6/8, one two, one two, one two, one two. However, when I subdivide it sounds more like, one two three four five six one two three four five six one two three four five six one two three four five six. And that's the two beat pattern.
