Sleeping Tips for Night Shift Workers
Now that we've prepared our environment for sleeping, what happens if you lay down and you try to get some rest and you just can't? Well, I have a few things that I would like to suggest to you that might help you be able to relax. One of the first things I would suggest is taking a very quick warm bath with Epson salt. I love Epson salt because it just helps relax you. It's been used for so many things, but Epson salt is really good. Run your bath water, sprinkle a little of Epson salt to cover the bottom of the tub, and then just soak in there for a little while. It's very good to help you relax. Another passed down from generation to generation remedy is a glass of warm milk. Just go ahead and warm it up a little bit and sip on it. Hopefully, that'll help you to relax. Lighting a candle is very soothing. It calms the environment and that's another thing that you can do to help relax you. Here is something that I absolutely love. I know it says bedtime bath for babies, but Johnson and Johnson's bedtime bath is really, really good. It has lavender in it and the scent causes an aroma therapy that helps your body to relax. Use the body wash, they have lotion, baby oil. Whatever it is that you like, you can try this scent and hopefully that might help relax you. Another thing is good old fashioned, reading a book. If you like to ready before you go to bed and that's what helps relax you, grab a book. Not one that you're going to be up reading intensely, but one that you'll read and want to go ahead and go to sleep after reading a couple chapters. Those are my tips. There's many more. As you work night shifts and as you have more experience, you'll get to figure out what works best for you. These are just some tips to get you started. Hopefully you'll have a good rest and have a good night sleep.
