How to Adjust to the Night Shift as a Nurse
Hi! It's Taquita coming to talk about ways to help you if you're working the night shift to get your body prepared, your mind, and everything prepared. If you've never worked the night shift before, this if your first night, we're going to start planning for working that night the night before. If you're working Thursday night and you go in at 7 PM, Wednesday night is when we'll start preparing for working. Wednesday night, you're going to stay up as late as possible. You're going to make yourself stay up. Whether it's watching a movie, if it's doing something with your kids, if it's writing something, or on the internet. Whatever it is that can help you stay awake, then go ahead and do it. I personally like to go out for dinner or maybe to a late movie or something like that just to get my body getting used to being up at these hours. After you've been up as long as you can. I try to stay up until about 3 AM. After 3, I just lay down and try to relax. Get up as early as possible. If your kids get up of if you get up early, maybe like 6 or 7 AM, get up and do what you would do if you were getting up in the morning. If you have errands to run, run your errands. If you work out, work out, eat breakfast. Do what you would do in the morning time. That's the 24 hour pre-prep. The next clip, we're going to talk about what you're going to do while you're up and how you're going to prepare your body to get ready for sleeping and for working that night.
