Using Oil in Thermostat Housing Repair

Hi, I'm Doug! I work with 20 great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods and we are going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. The first thing we are going to do is hit it with penetrating oil. This sometimes makes you feel better. I don't know if it actually does a whole lot in some cases but it is always a good place to start. So we hose the whole thing down really carefully with penetrating oil. It gets ugly later on if you end up needing to heat things up because it burns all the oil out. So if you have the luxury to let it soak for hours, you know, spray it, let it soak, spray it, let it soak. The longer time it has the more likely it is to help you do some good. So buy expensive stuff. The name brand stuff does work better than the cheap stuff. Some of the stuff has gross black stuff in it. Buy good quality ones it makes for a lot cleaner job. So we are letting this one sit for a while. It doesn't cost anything to let it sit and it is a real hassle to be breaking stuff.
