How to Play the "Quirks" Party Game

Hi, I'm Terri Lynn and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. In this segment, we're going to be doing a game called Party Quirks. Now this is a great character game, it's a guessing game, and it's played with a minimum of eight to ten people. Now what you want to do is you want to choose one person that's going to be the "host" of the party and you have them actually leave the room and go down the hall or into another room, somewhere where they won't here what's going on in the party room. Then you want to choose three to four guests and they're going to be the "guests" for the party. Now what you want to do is the audience, which is the rest of the players, they are going to choose the character or characteristic or character trait of the three to four guests at the party. Now if it's a holiday party, if you're playing it around a certain holiday, you might want to choose a theme. For example, if it's around the Christmas Holidays the characters could be something like Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer, Mrs. Claus, Santa’s elves, something like that. Or you could just have a character trait, like a man who is addicted to drinking eggnog - something like that. It really doesn't matter; you can make it as silly or fun as you want. Once you’ve chosen the characteristics you invite the host back in and you play a little scene. What you do is the host hosting the party invites the three to four guests into their party. Now they don't know - the host doesn't know the traits or the characteristics of who they are inviting into their party, but by the way the guests act, the host will slowly figure it out. Once the host figures out who each guest is, they have to leave the party. When all the guests are gone, the round is done and the host has won. Now if you’re the audience, you want to clap to give the host clues that they are getting warmer or closer to getting that character, so it can be tricky. So we're going to do a little quick sample of it, just with me and David. I'm going to choose, or I'm going to get a suggestion from my producer here on another character I can play. He's in another sound proof room, he can't hear thing. We're going to invite him in - he's going to play the host. Can I get a suggestion on a... Voice from off camera: Frosty the Snowman. Terri: Frosty the Snowman. Ok. I'm going to be Frosty the Snowman. Terri: Ding dong. David: There's my first guest. Hello! Terri: Oh, hello! Hold on a second, let me just try and get through the door. *grunt* David: Whoa. Terri: Sorry about that. The doors a little narrow, don't you think. David: So do you come to a lot of parties. Terri: Well, a lot of outdoor skating parties and toboggan parties and snow parties and stuff, yeah. David: Always around the snow, huh? Terri: Usually, in fact it's quite warm in here. Can you turn on the air conditioning? David: The air conditioning, it's like, thirty degrees out there. Terri: I know, that's how I like it. Er, do you have some matches for my corn-cob pipe? David: Wait a minute! Are you Frosty the Snowman? Terri: Why, yes I am! I guess I'll be going...A snowball fight is going on out there. Thanks for inviting me to your party. David: Come back any time.
