Moving Fish Long Distances

Hello, my name is Holly Martz on behalf of expertvillage.com. We are going to be discussing how to travel with your pet fish. In this clip we are going to discuss how to travel with your fish for a long period of time. I recommend using a Styrofoam cooler and a plastic bag. What you want to do is put your plastic bag inside your cooler and take the water from your fish tank and fill it up. A cooler this large I recommend filling it up half way. Fill it on up from the water from your fish tank and if you are traveling for a longer period than you think, you can also buy an air pump battery operated that way you want to make sure your fish has lots of air. If you are going to use the lid, you can actually put holes in the lid for more air. More things you want to remember is do not over crowd your fish because they can get abrasions from traveling. If that happens, you can go to your local pet store and get liquid healing agents. Securing your fish in your car the best place to be would be behind the back or front seat on the floor between the backseat an front seat. That is a good secure pace for your fish. You want to remember to never put your fish in your trunk because it has to keep the temperature. I recommend throwing a blanket over the top of your container that you have your fish in.
