How to Perform with Grace on Tour

ATHENA REICH: In this segment I'm going to talk about performance grace while on the road. Every touring performer has come to the point where they have driven for 5 hours, spent $50 in gas, their car has broken down; they drive to a venue in the middle of nowhere and guess what? There's three people there. What are you going to do? You're going to get depressed and take it out on the audience? No. You're putting your--you're just cutting up your nose to spite your face. No matter how many people are in the audience give it your best, try and connect with the joy of music, and why you're doing it in the first place because you know what? You never know who's in that audience. And you never know if they're in TV or film or if they're going to be the next whoever, you want them on your e-mail list. And you know what sometimes it can work for you, they can see that you're this undiscovered star who doesn't get enough recognition and they can sometimes take you under their wing and say, "Man, you are so good! You know there's only three people there I'm going to call my friend who's in this newspaper and he's going to write an article about you because I feel sorry for you that there's three people." Always give it your best; always bring out your best attitude.
