How to Care for a Reticulated Python

Hi I’m Daniel Keeper owner and operator of Zoo Keeper Exotic Pets in Austin, Texas and on behalf of Expert Village.com; today we will be talking about another exotic pet animal which is the reticulated python. The reticulated part means the net like pattern and they definitely have a net like pattern on their body. This particular one is an albino which makes it even more interesting. Some interesting facts about the reticulated python are that this snake gets to be the longest snake in the world. Some people think it is the Anaconda which is a shorter and heavier snake. This one is more slender and they obtain a length of over 33 feet. So as small animals, these guys begin their life eating mice and small mammals like that and birds. They are excellent climbers and when they get older they can eat all sorts of gigantic things such as pigs and any kind of large mammal they can catch in the brush. They are fairly slender. This animal does not look like much but when you stretch it out it is probably 4 ½ to 5 feet long. They come out of the egg at 2 feet so they are impressive even at birth. They have lots of sharp teeth for catching birds and they live to be to 25 to 30 years old. Reticulated python’s can lay up to 100 eggs at a time so they have lots and lots of babies.
