Walking in Performing With Puppets

In this clip, we want to talk about walking. We just talked about plum line, which gives you the sense of when your puppet can stand up straight. Walking is a lot the same, but you want to have a sense to have him walk realistically, that he's not leaning too far forward, or that he's not leaning too far back. It looks like here he would fall if he was a real person. If he's standing like this, he would also fall if he was a real person. Work on keeping the weight over the center of the puppet. However, you can also make your puppet walk in silly ways. There's no reason that a puppet has to walk realistically. You can also make your puppet do something very ridiculous. It's not important that you actually have him walk like a real person. Think about the amazing things that puppets can do that people can't.
