In this clip, we're going to talk about plum line and copying poses. Plum line has to do with weight of your body. The plum line of this puppet goes straight down his center. If he's like this, you can see that if he was a real person, he would fall over. Knowing where the plum line is in your puppet can create really realistic sense. Say we wanted to lean over like this. He would fall, but if you put his foot over, the plum line goes straight down here. There's a sense that he would actually be able to stand in that position. One way to work with this is actually go make a funny pose with your own body, and then recreate it with your puppet. Often times, you'll want to work with more than one person on a puppet, because then you can control more elements all at once. Have a friend come over and work with the puppet together.
