Exploring Movement in Puppetry

In this clip, we're going to talk about using le bon as a way to think about movement in a puppet. This is my Bunraku style puppet, and we're going to think about ways that his body might move. Before we can do that, I want to use le bon. It's a dance technique and it breaks down the effort of movement into light movement, heavy movement, direct movement, indirect movement, and fast and slow. By combining all those things, they come up with 8 different ways of movement, which includes flick, dab, glide, float, punch, slash, press, and ring.
