Alright, with every turning that we're going to make, we have a beginning point, and an ending point. We're going to use the original to mark off our round stock now, so we know where our ends are going to be. Because that's really the finite amount of material we need. We know that it has to be the same size, so we're going to cut that. We're literally going to put it up here on the lathe, and we're going to mark it exactly where we need to be with our finished turning. After we get the mark, we put our stock down, and we'll turn the lathe on. Where the pencil mark was, we make a more visible mark. What that does, it gives us a little more visibility of where we're going to make our next cut. With that, we're going to use what's called a parting tool. It just goes in, makes a nice deep cut, tells us exactly where we need to be, and the pencil mark will lead us right where we're going to make the first cut. Now we cut it fairly deep, we don't want to cut all the way through it of course, we want to keep the stock in place. What that does, it gives us exactly where we need to be for the beginning and the end. And from there everything else will be marked off in the center.
