Squaring Wood With a Table Saw

Okay now that we've got our two sides squared up from our joiner, we are going to get the dimensions that we need. A little over sized of the piece that we have originally turned. So we want it to be fatter on both dimensions but we want it to be square. So we are going to use this tap handle as our marker. We are going to bring the fence over and we are going to leave around a half inch between the blade and the edge where we need to be. We are going to leave about a half inch off. Once we get that set up, we need to get the pipe to the blade. We are going to keep bringing the blade up to where we are just above the wood surface. When you see the teeth and the pulley comes up, that is about where you want to stop. Now I am going to cut the machine on and cut these other two sides and that way we will have four square sides to our block. It will just take a minute and be right through this. Now after we have cut it, you can see that we are heavier than our original block so when we turn it around, we know that we can get to that dimension. We don't want to be smaller than this dimension, we want to be bigger. So everything is all squared up now, all of our sides are square and ready to go. The next thing that we have to do is our square ends. We don't do it on this machine. We are going to go over to the chop saw and we are going to do the next process.
