Okay now we are at the joiner and we are going to square the two sides of this board up. The joiner is good for squaring up and flattening a board but you can't get the thickness of the dimensions you want. All we are getting is two sides that are perpendicular to each other. As you can tell, you can see how far out of square this board is now. So when we are done with this machine, this square should sit on here nice and perfectly flat. That will give us two square sides. Again, that is all this machine is for, just squaring up the two sides. With that I am going to cut it on and take a few passes and when I get done, I am going to turn it off and we will remeasure and see how close we are to getting square. Now what we've done here is we've used the bed as one surface and our fence here is the other one. We know that these two are square with each other so after we pass through the first time, we squared the bottom. Then we took our bottom kept it against the fence and ran the other surface. Now hopefully if everything went well, we've got a nice square edge. As you can tell, are right on where we should be. So that is the first part of the process squaring the board.
