Artificial Intelligence in Halo 3

JOHN SEXTON: Halo 3 is a registered trademark of Bungie Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. So we've got a brute up there. Gonna take him down. The artificial intelligence in Halo is quite good on both sides. You've got some artificial intelligence in controlled teammates that are helping you out here and the enemies are also pretty smart. They'll flank you and try to out maneuver you. They will often times throw grenades or retreat or call for help and things like that. So it's not just shooting fish in the barrel. Got this grunt spooked so we can chase him down. So the part of the fun of the Halo games is that the artificial intelligence is so good and that most of the encounters will play out differently each time because the AI will do different things depending on how you attack him, which weapons you're using, and things like that. So we're just making our way through the jungle here. It's not particularly easy to get lost in the Halo games. There's more or less one predefined path that you want to follow. And since you have AI teammates like the Arbiter with you, often they will lead you from one place to the next. So it's not so much a matter of getting lost; it's more a matter of just tactically knowing what to do to survive each battle and to make it through the storyline. A lot of it involves using the right cover and using the right weapons and helping out your teammates when they need it.
