Hi! I’m Robert Rogers on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip we are going to talk about proper tree stand height. What I’ve done is climbed up the tree that I’ve chosen after scouting and I went up about 25 foot; that’s a minimum I like to go. I’m usually one of those guys shooting out of the sky scraper but I’ve attached a cord with a tree stand because it is almost impossible to climb up a tree with a tree stand on it. So what we are going to do now is hold the tree stand up and securely fasten it or pull the tree stand up and securely attach it to the tree with the straps provided. What we want to do is find out which way the wind is coming from. You want to face into the wind; that way deer won’t catch your scent as well. You can either get a little powder a little bottle of powder throw that up in the air and see which way the wind is blowing. It is very faint right now but I can feel it coming from the east. What I do is try to place this tree stand right about this location, right about where I am sitting and then that way I am facing into the wind. Deer coming up won’t be able to smell me. Nice height; that way deer coming through won’t spot you right away. Good solid tree and we’re going to see what happens.
