History & Elements of the Squeegee

DAVE BARKER: On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Dave Barker. I'm with my cleaning company [SOUNDS LIKE] Barker and Allen. I'm going to talk to you about the squeegees right now. Some of the equipment, I'll talk about a little bit later. But the most important thing is the squeegee. Some people like to clean a window with a towel and wipe it off, but you're going to have dirt and dust and smudge marks. Windex or something like that might work, but if you use Windex, you're going to have smudges and everything else. The squeegee method developed in the last century, it's been used since about the 1920s or so. The first squeegee was--some of the first squeegees was developed by a man named Steccone Ettore. [INDISCERNIBLE] he was an Italian immigrant that was cleaning windows. And it consists of a metal channel such as this and a handle. This is a modern handle. It's a straight-on handle, but most--but the other--and this is also a more modern squeegee with aluminum. This is a 30-inch. This right here is about an 18-inch and this handle here is set at about a 45-degree angle if you can see.
