Dip & Roll Frits for Glass Beads

All right. So, we're going to take our bead out of the kiln and we're going to roll it in the frit here. So, I opted out on the Amazon jewel, and I went with the lava, in the silver striker 5, so, I don't know. We'll find out if that was a good move here in a second. So, we're going to flame on here, get the torch going. Whip our bead out here, and get that heated up. So, basically, when you're applying frit, it's really simple. You just heat up what you're going put frit on, and then you roll it in the frit. Pretty simple. So, we'll get this nice and hot. You want it hot. I mean, you don't want it melting off your mandrel, but you definitely want your bead to be glowing when you are applying frit. All right. 3,2,1...and there we go. And we're going to put some frit on there. And we did. And that's how we put the frit on. I've got a little straggler here. I'm trying to help him out. Ok. You know, definitely, you can dip it just once if you want to, but I'm going to dip it several times, just to get a lot more color in it. I think they look a lot cooler. And basically you roll it in the fit as much as you want. I just try and keep in mind you want to keep the base level a little bit still there, just so you can see the contrast in all the colors. See if we can help those down a little bit, and we'll go back for some more. And we'll use our bead mashers real quick here. We'll probably dip it like two more times, I think. Like I said before, in the frit, there's really fine, there's coarse, and there's in the middle. This is kind of in the middle. You definitely don't want it to be too small, because then it's like little tiny particles of colors, which doesn't really stand out as much. You definitely have to have it be at least the size of a pin head or something for it to stand out. Ok, I'm doing to dip and roll it one more time here.
