Raised Beds for Spring Vegetable Garden

Hello everybody I am David Rodriquez, horticulturist with Texas Agri-life Extension service on behalf of Expert Village and we are going to show you some gardening steps in preparing your vegetable garden for the spring planting. Often when you find your selection, you find an area out that receive eight to ten hours of full sun, you know the area is clean, it is as level as possible and if it rains real hard you have somewhat good drainage out there. Often we go to raised beds and there are many ways to do raised beds. One of the ways is to use lumber, such as this cedar lumber which is six inches deep and just, you can bring in by the bag, real good compost, real good garden mix or do like we did here. Just bring it in and get some rural compost, some rich compost, bring it in by the truckload, it is a little bit expensive at the beginning but when you use it, it will really pay for itself down the line.
