Tips & Strategies of Scrabble Game Play
Hi! My name is Andy Strohl and on behalf of Expert Village, in this clip we will be discussing game play of the word game Scrabble. Don’t forget to check out my website at www.strohldigital.com. Well in the last clip we chose our tiles and we formed our word, our word was give, and we placed it on the board. Let’s discuss a little bit more about the placement of the word and what an opponent would do to counter the word or just their choices for placing the next word on the board. Okay, as you see I placed give here, pull this away to show you exactly the placement. Notice I did not put the v, the letter that has a value of 4 next to these 2 double letter scores. A lot of this game is placement. Sometimes it is not the caliber of word we use, but the placement. I made sure that I put the v, the 4 point word on the star because there are no double letter scores, double word scores on either side of it, so that is playing defensively and that is extremely important in this game is to not set yourself up for your opponent to hit these deadly squares which pop up all over the board. So as you can see part of game play or the game play of Scrabble is to not only put words down and play offensively, but defensively as well and particularly paying attention to where your words are going and what your opponents can do to capitalize off of the higher numerical values of your letter tiles, so it is important to protect against that.
