Setting Up A Game of Scrabble
Hi! My name is Andy Strohl and on behalf of Expert Village, in this clip we will be discussing the set up of Scrabble, the board game. Don’t forget to check out my work at www.strohldigital.com. Okay as far as the set up is concerned, what you want to do when you open the box, you want to take the tiles and put them in a tile bag. So this is going to be the bag from which you will be drawing your tiles throughout the game. To start play, let’s just say I was playing with one other opponent, I would let my opponent choose a tile, then I would choose a tile and whichever letter is closest to a, gets to choose their word down first. As you can see, each letter has a numerical value on them and its right there in the lower left hand corner. So for example, if I chose an e and my opponent chose a t, I would be going first; choosing my tiles and laying down my first word. That is what I am going to do; choose 7 tiles. You will always have 7 tiles on your tile board at all times unless it is toward the end of the game where obviously the tiles have run out. We will discuss that further. Just use what you have until they are gone. So 7 tiles is what I am going to choose now since I have selected a higher letter closer to a. I am going to select my tiles and going to put them down on this board and then we are going to start placing words on the board itself.
