Tips for Doubles Playing Dominoes

Hi! I’m Nathan Holsey, author of the book The Dominologist. On behalf of expertvillage.com, in this clip I will be talking about doubles; locking out doubles and bone families as well. If you’d like more information on double 6 dominos, you can refer to my website thedominologist.com. There are 28 dominos in every double 6 set. Every double 6 set has 7 denominations and 7 denominations have 7 different numbers each, a 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and a blank. So a blank has 7 dominos and a blank with each one of these a test. Now, I want to slide these out and slide these in, there are a little bit harder to recognize 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and blank, so here it is in another form of double 6. I’m going to slide this out and show you that doubles are the only domino that give you one option, so you cannot slide a 5 in here, once it is closed, there are 7 dominos. That means the double is an odd bone. If all the doubles in the game were on the skeleton have been attached, this double 6, for example, is out, it can no longer be played if all 6 of the other dominos are played. Same with the 5, if all 6 of the other 5’s have been played, you’re stuck with this, so doubles get locked out, you will be stuck with them. It is best to play when you get a chance if you don’t have any other options.
