Using Water to Teach the Bible to Kids

I'm Linda Leon with Expert Village and I've been working with children for a very long time. Today, we're going to talk about passing your protestant faith on to your children. I love using simple applications because they last, they stick, they make an impression. One of the things that I used to do with my children when they were small was to use water as an object lesson to tell the story. A simple thing such as water. There are so many biblical stories that are water based, that you can really get your children involved in. When they were very small, just three to five years old, I would tell them the story of Noah's Ark and just they splash in the water. I would say, "It rained for forty days and forty nights!" And I'd just let them splash all around in the water and they'd get so excited, but they were learning the Bible story at the very same time. Maybe you want to tell the story about how Pilate said, "I am not going to allow the blood of Jesus to be on my head". And how he dipped his hand in the water and washed his hand and said, "No more of this. I will have no part of this innocent man's death." A simple bowl of water will do the trick. Or maybe, perhaps, you want to talk to them about the blood of Jesus and how it cleanses from sin. Well, give them a visual on that. Get some food dye; invest in a box of food dye. Get some red dye, put it in a bowl of water, stir it up and talk to them about the blood of Jesus and what it does and how it purifies and cleanses from sin. The children will love it, they will learn. It is a simple application, as easy as going to your kitchen and taking a bowl out from under your cabinet. So, be prepared to do the simple things that make the most impact. Use visuals as much as possible and you will pass your faith along to your children. And I'm Linda Leon with Expert Village.
