Hi, I'm Linda Leon with Expert Village and I've been working with children for a very long time. One of the things that I would like to share with you is the power of praising God with a paper plane. You would be amazed at how many object lessons you can use for your children by simply using a paper plate. I'm going to share just a few of those with you today. And use your imagination for the rest. One of the things I used to do with my kids was to take a paper plate, staple it together on all sides, leave a little gap in the top, and then put rice or beans on the inside. When you do that, and you begin to shake those things, it makes the sound of maracas. And you can teach your children to praise the Lord by just putting a little bit of rice or sand or something inside that makes a rattling sound. Another thing you can do is teach the creation story. In the creation story it talks about how God made the Heavens and the Earth. He made the sun and he made the moon. Well, if you have small children, you can get them to color a paper plate or to paint a paper plate the color of the sun - a bright yellow or a bright orange. You can also get them to do the moon by coloring it according to what their idea of what the moon would look like on a dark and starry night. So you can use paper plates that way also. You can also begin to put applications on a paper plate. Say, for example, you were teaching your children about the cross, Jesus dying on the cross. Well, in one of our earlier object lessons, we used little sticks, which are popsicle sticks. You can glue these together, place them on your paper plate, and tell the story about Jesus dying on the cross. So that's a simple thing that you can use, that you have right in your home, that will pass your protestant beliefs on to your children. Teach them to praise God with a paper plate.
