Bible Texts to Help Teach Children Christianity

Hi, I'm Linda Leon with Expert Village and I've been working with children for a very long time. Today we're going to be talking about passing your beliefs on to your children. And you know it's real simple. It takes studying you Bible and finding things that children are interested in. One of the best tools that you can use to study your Bible with is called "The Comparative Study Bible", and I have one with me here. Now, what The Comparative Study Bible does, when you open it, it has different versions of the Bible all in one place. And this particular one has The King James, The Amplified, The New American Standard, and The New International Version. So what happens is, when you begin to find a Bible story that you think your child might be interested in, you go to The Comparative Study Bible and then read each one of those particular passages and find the one that brings out the most focus or has the most energy for your child. Say, for example, you're going to read the story of Noah's Ark. Well, when you read all four versions, one might stand out to you particularly, and you'll say, "I like that standpoint. So when I tell my children this story, I'm going to use most of the aspects that I find in this version." So The Comparative Study Bible is an excellent text to use in order to transfer that faith to your children. Another thing that is good to have on hand is called The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. This is a good book because it gives you the original Hebrew and Greek definitions for any word in the Bible. So if you're doing a Bible study for your child and you want to look up something about Noah or Abraham or Joseph or some other character in the Bible and you want to know in detail what the events were that surrounded their story, if you look up their name in The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, it will give you every reference concerning that individual. You can also use it for various words, not just individuals. Say, for instance, you want to learn about faith. Well, you look up faith in either the Hebrew or the Greek, and it will outline very place in the Bible that that word is found. This is an excellent text, which again is called The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. So I would highly recommend that to be your first stage in teaching your children. Get the sources that you can use that makes the Bible more understandable and use those tools to present information to your children. And I'm Linda Leon with Expert Village.
