JOHNNY MILES: In this clip, what we're going to talk about is pitching, not a low-running shot which is a chip shot but a pitch shot. Now I prefer chipping to pitching when I can but there are times where you can't hit a low-running shot. Like here, I found myself left of the bunker. I'm going to have to pitch it over the bunker and then have it release to the hole. I can't hit a low-running shot without bringing the bunker into play. Or if I hit it too low, flying the bunker, it's going to hit the fringe and take off. So I need to take a more lofted club. I've got my lob wedge, figure out with the green running away from me in left to right about where I need to land it left to the hole, and then I want to figure out what trajectory I want to land it there so it doesn't release too far. I got a little bit of an uphill lie so that's going to help me. I don't necessarily have to open the clubface so much as--just make sure it's slightly forward in my stance and then just maintain the loft of this club through the shot which is a simple little pitch. INTERVIEWER: Finish it. DAVID ANDERSON: By judging your lie, figuring out the highest spot and what trajectory you want to land it there, then just set up so your swing is simply just backing through to your high spot, eliminating all this trouble.
