About Treating Addictions With Acupuncture

SARAH HAUER: Hi. I'm Sarah Hauer. SIG HAUER: And I'm Sig Hauer, and we're professional practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine. SARAH HAUER: We're here on behalf of Expert Village. SIG HAUER: And welcome to our video. We can treat addictions as well. And a good example of what happens with treating addictions, in New York City when they added acupuncture through their treatment of drug addicts, and these were court-ordered treatments, the drug addict had some motivation; it is either go to jail or go to the drug treatment program which included the acupuncture. But the point I'm trying to make is when they added acupuncture to the treatment, their non-recidivism rate, and that means going back into the addiction, of course, their non-recidivism rate went from about 35% to 40% to 70% to 80% with the patients that went through this particular program. So, it's very effective in treating addictions. And the important note here is the way Sarah and I handle that is we set up ten treatments in about a three-week period because we want to break that cycle of addiction and get that monkey off your back, so to speak.
