How to Remove Outer Layer of Bone Handle

JASON HARRIS: Hi, I'm Jason with ExpertVillage.com. We're going to now--though we've got the edges and the bevel and the holes drilled, we're going to take off this outer layer that's been out in the weather and we're going to make it so it's shiny and white. Now, I'm actually going to cut down into it. This is more like sanding it off. We're going to use the cutting bit anyway because it is fairly hard and it will come off a lot faster. Just really don't push too hard and go kinda quick across the whole thing and you can see it; it will-the brown will just start washing away like you're erasing something. So, before you start, kinda get a feel of the contour and you'll kinda see that it's not round, it's not square, there's parts that are triangle, there are parts that are flat, there are parts that are circles. Just keep in mind this is just like polishing a stone or anything, try to do the surface in front of you and move to the next surface and so looking at the thing as a whole, thinking you have to do a circular motion, you'll end up cutting into the edges or leaving flat spots out so what you want to do is just do each little section at a time and I'll demonstrate that here on the next run.
