The next exercise I’m going to demonstrate for you is a back extension. This exercise is going to work the lower back, the erector spinae. You want to make sure that the footpad is adjusted properly for you by pulling on the black knob. Once you’ve got that adjusted, take a seat on top of the bench. Before you begin the exercises, place your feet on the black pads. You can place your hands on your thighs or across your abdominals, leaning up against the back pad, exhaling as you press yourself back using the back muscles, inhale as you come up to sitting without letting the weight plates touch, exhale as you go back. You’ll start to feel this in your lower back. This is a good exercise for people that experience some lower back pain, to strengthen the muscles in the lower back. Exhale and inhale, very good. Exhale lower and inhale lift. It’s very important to keep the abdominals engaged throughout the entire exercise.
