Attaching Base When Building Pergola

Hi, I'm Bob Street with Houdini Home Repair on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip we are going to show you how to tighten down the bracket that holds the post to the foundation. We are going to be putting on a post plate that secures the post to the ground. It keeps it from kicking or shifting and we'll take a washer and a nut and sometimes we will have to drill a hole and put a bolt or anchor into the concrete. But in this case, they've already done it for us so all we have to do is bolt these down to the anchors in which they've already got set. I'll put this here plate on here and we are going to make a mark on there, square with the world. I believe we are square with the world. Then we are going to go to the other end and do the same thing. And we are going to get a mark on there square with the world. Now you take our chalk line and snaffle line and therefore, we will make sure the middle one ends up where we want it. Here we go. All right. Got me held down on that line there. Lined up, I've got one here and we are going to snap that and that will mark our middle one. Plus it is straight and should keep them all straight. Yeah, there you go. Just kind of center it up and take our wrench and tighten it down. There we go.
