How to Grind Stained Glass

ALLISON KLINGER: On behalf of ExpertVillage.com, my name is Allison at Western Art Glass. And in this step, we have--we're going to grind our glass--our glass pieces, that is. The last step, we applied our patterns to our glass and we cut them out. And we're really happy, because all our cutting went really, really well, okay? I didn't cut this one too close to the paper pattern but that's okay because we have a glass grinder and you can't do glass without a grinder. So if you don't have a grinder, go to your local stained-glass store and they will hook you up with one. They're well worth the price. So anyway, get these over to the grinder. Grinders have water and a diamond grinding wheel, okay? They won't hurt your skin. But if they're going to grind glass, they're going to grind your nails. So anyway, put the glass down on the surface here--you got water in here--and just grind to the paper pattern. Don't forget your safety glasses. Whatever step you're doing, always have something on your eyes, okay? This is also an eye shield on the grinder. I'm grinding this down to the paper pattern. I really don't want to see any glass; I just want to see paper then I know it fits. So next step, check it out. See you there.
