Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell. Now in this clip I'm going to show you one way that you can learn to do to reduce the stress and the anxiety that you might be undergoing when you've been diagnosed with male menopause or andropause. Now this is a relaxation technique to for deep breathing or pace breathing. This will also help you to overcome or relieve, reduce some of the symptoms of the hot flashes or episodic sweating that you?re going to experience when you're going through this particular medical condition. So, what is deep breathing? Well, first of all let me show you. First of all you have to relax. Find a place you know in the privacy of your home or somewhere very quiet and secluded. And relax. You can do this standing up or sitting down. What you need to do is learn to breathe with your stomach muscles and your diaphragm in this area here. So, you take a very deep breath through your mouth and through your nose, deep inhalation counting to five seconds, 1001, 1002 until you get to 1005. Inhale though deeply and then hold it for about three seconds and then release it doing the exhalation and you count again up to five seconds (1001, 1002 until you get to 1005). And then you repeat this several times. And while you're doing that, while you're inhaling, you have to flex your neck back. So, I'm going to demonstrate this to you from a side profile. Say we're going to do deep breathing. I'm going to stand up, you're going to relax and you're going to put your arms by your side, and then you're going to inhale deeply using your stomach muscles and your diaphragm here and breathing in deeply through your mouth and your nose and your going to count up to five seconds. So you're going to count, but while you're doing that you're going to flex you're head back. So we're going to do this, breathe. And then you hold it for three seconds in this position and then you're going to exhale. And do the same. Count up to five seconds and exhale deeply. And then you repeat this again a couple of times. So you repeat this process going up and extending. You can do it with you're eyes closed. You can do it sitting down as long as you're relaxed and your muscles are not tense. And that will help you to alleviate some of the stress and anxiety that you are probably going to feel when you are going through male menopause.
