Traveling with Your Dog in the Summer: Part 1

Hi! This is Elise McMahon for Expert Village and in this video series we’re talking about how to travel with your dog. If you would like to find out more about my services you can visit my website at canineheadstart.com. So in this short clip we’re going to be talking about summer time travel with your dog. One of the things you want to consider is whether or not your dog has the proper immunizations that he or she needs to go to the area that you’re going be visiting. So here is an example. Leptospirosis is something that not every dog gets vaccinated against and it’s not an issue in many dog areas. If you’re going to be traveling out to farms especially sheep farms but farms in general, you might want to, your dog is going to be spending a lot of time outdoors in those farms you might want to consider getting your dog vaccinated for Leptospirosis. There’s certainly tick problems in different areas and so let’s say you’re going to place that had lots of ticks and your dog didn’t generally get a Lyme Disease vaccination, you might want to consider giving them a Lyme Disease vaccination. So just think about where you’re taking your dog and what kind of medical issues you need to think about and you can always discuss this your with veterinarian, on the same topic of what to think about in terms of veterinary stuff your dog. You want to travel with a folder that has all your dog’s medical records in it and it’s always a good idea to have pictures of your dog in the folder. So you always get some pictures of your dog, the pet’s medical records, if your dog is registered with some registry you can bring the dogs registration information. Good idea to keep this folder in your car, some place safe, in case anything does happen, if your dog goes missing.
