Learn About the Types of Glass for Stained Glass

On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Allison at Western Art Glass. I'm going to be talking about the different kinds of glass. So check it out. The first thing you need to be aware of if you never cut glass before or you are unsure on how to cut a shape, never under estimate just basic window glass what is called double strength or 8 inch glass so really easy to get at most glass stores period. There is different type of art glass there is a opaque one where you can not see through, streaky different on both sides. There is one solid opaque you can not see through it at all. The same with this orange here, you can get some really fine really cool glass this is called Baroque. This one would be a cathedral or a see through glass. This one I call it fire. It is cool on one side and even cooler on the other side. There is water glass. It does not mean you have to use it for water it is just a texture a see through or transparent. For a cathedral. Once again another one different tones of color in the red. Same with yellow and for what we are doing today I'm going to use this cool yellow for the sun and this really cool semitransparent deep aqua for the background. Glass is priced for the square foot, you can buy it in small pieces, big pieces or whatever size you need. So I'm going to show you how to cut glass in the next step so check it out.
