Measuring Waist for Tuxedo Rental

Hi! On behalf of Expert Village, I?m Garen Palmer and this Ritz Tuxedos. Right now, we're going to talk about how to measure for a tuxedo. It's always best if you come in to the store tuxedo rental where you can have an expert do the measuring for you. That's always great, but not always is that possible and sometimes you might have to measure yourself. We're going to show you how to do that. It's not as easy as it looks. We hope that what we show you will make it so there will be no problems. First, we're going to measure the waist of the pant. How you do that is you reach around with both hands. You want to go right around the navel area just above the hips. I know a lot of guys like to wear their pants down low. For a tuxedo, it's important that you wear it up where it needs to be up, right around the belly. We do that. We reach around with both hands, grab a hold of the tape. You need a nice cloth tape that you can find at any fabric store. Go around with both hands, being careful to stay above the pant. You don't want the tape to go over the pant, or that will make it bigger than it really needs to be. Then you pull it fairly snug. For a thin person, you don't want to pull as snug because then it'll be too tight in the hips. With a heavier person, you want to pull it fairly snug because you want to make sure it stays up where it needs to be. With a regular person, a waist 30 to 38 waist, just fairly snug but not real tight. Take around both hands. It's important thought to not go over the pant with the tape, or else that's going to make it come out bigger than it needs to be.
