Common Jargon at Tuxedo Rental Store

Hi, on behalf of Expert Village, I'm Garen Palmer, and this is the Ritz Tuxedos. We're going to talk about... You come, you picked up your tuxedo, but maybe some of the verbiage, the lingo, you might use to talk about tuxedos so that maybe you and the expert in the store are on the same page, and you know what they're talking about. The first thing, when you're trying on the tuxedo, there's a lot of adjustments that need to be made. First is the pant. And on the pant, they are adjustable, almost any tuxedo place you go, the pant will be adjustable. So when you try on the pant, you need to make sure that that has been adjusted to your proper waist size. You get people all the time come out, get mad because the pants don't fit and all I have to do is slide that over a little bit and they're ready to go. So that's the first thing we need to do. The second thing is, on the vest, there's two different styles of vests. There's the backless vest and there is a full-back vest. And they're adjusted different ways. On the backless vest, there's a clip in the back, and those are adjustable. You can hook that then you can adjust your waist length for the proper fit. You can also adjust up at the neck here, to bring the vest up or down. So those are the two things you need to watch for on that and can be adjusted. On the full back, there's not as much adjustment that can be done. But usually in the back, on the inside, there's a little strap here that you can pull and button and that takes it in through the waist, so it's a little more snug through the waist if you need it to be, or you can let it out if need be. So those are the two types of vests. The other things on the tuxedo is number of buttons, type of lapel, that's the shape up in here, some are notch lapels, some will turn up to a point, those are peak lapels, then there's also the number of buttons on the coat, this is a five-button, but this is a one-button, so there's different types of buttons and length of the coat. We have one here that's no buttons at all. So, as you're talking to people, you might want to say, "I want a notch lapel, in a two-button front," or a peak lapel, or just a... Minor difference there, but the nice thing about tuxedos is that they are adjustable in many of the areas: the pants, the length, the sleeve length can be adjusted, the pant length can be adjusted. The coat can't be taken in through the sides, but most everything else can be adjusted to fit your body type.
