Alright, so beat one. Let's just take a look at the first beat of the bar. You have your eighth notes on your hi-hat. I'll be playing, demonstrating all of this with the closed hi-hat so you can hear well. You have the two is going to be with the snare drum, so beat one snare isn't doing anything. It's mainly the kick; you have 1-e-and-a. Okay, so 1 and a. So, it's the first sixteenth note, the last sixteenth note of the first beat. So, playing it slowly. Three, four, 1-a. Three, four, 1-a. Three, four, 1-a. Three, four, 1-e-and-a. Okay? So, it's that first and that last sixteenth note of beat one, okay? This is with the, this is played alongside the hi-hat, right? So, we have eighth notes on the hi-hat, so together it sounds with the closed hi-hat sounds like this. Three, four. Three, four. Three, four. Adding the snare. Three, four. Three four. So, you have that sixteenth note leading into the snare and the hi-hat hitting at the same time with your right and left hands. Take a look at the next clip. We'll talk about some more syncopation that happens with the snare and the kick.
