JOEL SIEGEL: All right. So far, we're sounding like this--okay? What's going on in beat four, you have another anticipation with the snare. It's not the uh of three, like so far it was the uh of two, that sixteenth note anticipation. This time instead it's like--it's an eighth note anticipation. Listen real quick and you'll hear it. Okay? One, two, three-and, four. Okay, -and, four. So this is another kind of digression from your normal, like just two and four. All right? You just--all that's happening as far as the mechanics, your right hand and your left hand are applying that upbeat of three and the downbeat of four at the same time. One, two, three-and, four. Okay? So this is what I was talking about, like kind of all the fun stuff is going on in the snare, so here's the whole beat just so you can hear it in context. Okay? So you have that anticipation of three that leads into the kick drum, on a downbeat of three which is kind of a basic deal, and then you have that -and, four in the snare, all right? We'll talk about the last thing the kick drum does in the next clip.
