JOEL SIEGEL: That's John Bonham with "When the Levee Breaks." That's the beat we're going to do. In the next few clips, we're going to break it down, talk about what's going on in the hands and feet. This is kind of--this is a very famous beat. It's kinda quintessential rock. It's cool. It's cool to learn because you got a few different things going on but it's also simple in some ways as well. In the right and left hands with the hi-hat and the snare, you just have kinda your standard rock, pop, two and four going on with the eighth notes on the right, two and four on the left. The same thing with the left foot, the hi-hat just remains closed. And kinda what's doing your work and what's giving the beat it sound is the kick drum. So we're gonna--it will be kinda focusing on the kick drum and kind of a--what's going on there with how the beats are breaking down and the sixteenth notes. That's what most of those--those notes are sixteenth notes. So take a look at the next clip and we'll talk about what exactly is going on with the bass drum in that beat.
