JOEL SIEGEL: All right. So beat one, like we already know, we have our hi-hat and our snare on the downbeat, and then the hi-hat on the upbeat. We've also got our kick on the downbeat, okay? So beat one, we're going to have all three hitting together: kick, snare and the hi-hat with the right hand. Okay? Upbeat of one you got that hi-hat. So all of beat one is one-and, one-and, one-and. All right? Beat two, the kick drum is resting. So beats one and two are pretty straight forward. You just got that kick on beat one and then your hi-hat and snare are covering beat two. One, two, three, go. Four. Three, four. Three, four. Okay? So, we got one-and, two-and. One-and, two-and, all right? Those are our first two beats of this beat, and we'll talk about three and four in the next clip.
