This is Christopher Lyman with expertvillage.com. The next thing we are going to talk about is hard water and you are going to see this a lot especially if you do this full time. But if you are at home and just a homeowner and your basement windows usually get hard water anywhere with a water sprinkler that hits your glass, you are going to get some hard water build up. So the best thing to take this off, I've heard of people using toilet bowel cleaner. This is called Lime Buster. It is a lime and mineral deposit remover. You can get this at any janitorial supply. It works great. I've heard of people using ammonia and other things but you are going to need basically it sulphuric acid which takes off that hard water and you are going to need something like that. You are also going to need a blade, very helpful. This is a window washing blade. It is an ultra fine, comes in an ultra fine point. It is not going to scratch your glass if used properly but you want to be careful with whatever kind of blade you are going to take to your glass. If you are not sure, then ask a professional what to use. You don't want to take just any old blade to window because if you scratch it. Then steel wool is going to help in the process. Again, an ultra fine steel wool is going to help in the process to get off that hard water. I want to show you an example of hard water and it is here at this window. As you can see looking through it, it is almost white, this deposit. Even after washing the window, you still have this white film still left on the window. That is hard water, we will be removing that next.
