Now a Shake Hands is a great knot. It is very simple and it is relatively unknown but it is really great if you want to put a nice knot in that you can easily get out. So if you look down here at our table we can see that I've already got my first line started with the initial loop and I have looped this one back under and around the standing end as you can see. I am going to take my blue rope and I am going to take it and take it underneath and work it over my working end back around and over so basically I have created two symmetrical loops coming through like this. Now I am going to take the standing end of my red rope and since it went under its standing piece I am going to take the working end and take it right through the hoop that I have created creating basically an overhand knot such as this. Then I am going to take my blue line and do the same since it came over its standing end and I am going to take the working end back under and through both ropes again and as I pull this it will come together in basically two overhand knots that create a nice tight bend.
