Hi! Thank you for visiting expertvillage.com, my name is Yvette Parrish. It does work really pretty when you have a group but you can do them by yourself as well. Remember that’s how you practice with a right hand, pinky always start with your pinky first. 1, 2, 3, 4…..1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3,4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 so this is always your heartbeat. You’re not getting real fancy with the left one, the right one is where you do all the work….. So once you get the hang of it and once you get the castanets that fit your hand which is very important. Learn how tight you like them, like I said I like to go a little bit tighter and then loosen them up as I’m playing. If you start too loose they’ll just be falling off your fingers. So practice a little bit with them, how to put them on, how you like the feel, if the size is the right size for the palm of your hand. Think about the sounds, the deeper sound is always going to be the left hand and that’s the castanets.
