How to Fluff & Steam a Feather Boa

PAMELA YAGER: Getting your boa ready, that's what we're talking about now. Because a lot of times if you're going to be buying your boa on the Internet or sometimes if you go to a party store and you buy your boa, it comes packaged in a plastic package and it's flat. And so you don't want a flat boa. Flat boas are no fun. So we want to get it ready. So to get it ready, we're going to be steaming it. First, you're going to shake out all the extra feathers sometimes they have some extra feathers that are in there. And we're going to steam our boa. Now, when you're steaming anything, you want to make sure that you have it on some sort secured sort of hanger or something that is not your hand because steam is hot and be careful. You will hurt yourself even though it's not boiling water coming out. It's hot steam. It's boiling steam. Its--just don't do it. Okay so we're going to hold up our--hold up our boa like this and I'm just going to pass the steamer over. I'm starting up at the top so that the feathers will start lying down immediately. And they start to come down and if you notice it's starting to work really well there. And then we're going to shake it out. And now our boa is ready to start decorating. Let's get started.
