Hi, I'm Mike Lais. On behalf of Expert Village this is piano chord voicings. So the first position we're going to learn about is the root position or it's the diatonic position. It's where you start off on the first note of the chord. For example if we're going to play a G chord spelling it out from the bottom, we're going to start with the G on the bottom. We're going to go G B and D and that is your root position voicing. This is usually where everybody is going to begin with. For example we'll take this and if you want to move it up to a C chord, you're going to jump up to go C E G but you can see why this has a little bit too much jumping and that is why we're going to talk about different inversions. So you can keep your hand stationary as opposed to but anyway we'll get to that later. For now we are just going to worry about the root position which is where we can start off with the one of the chord. A G chord we're going to be G B D, that is root position.
