How to Do Reverse Bench Lunges

ALICE MONSAERT: All right. We're going to do reverse lunge with the back foot on the bench. Again, in hot leg exercises, you really want to take a basic exercise and vary it as many ways as you can. So we've done the reverse lunge by stepping back, and we've done stationary lunges, so now we're just going to switch it up. We had our forward foot on the bench; now we're going to take the back foot onto the bench. So take a moment to set yourself up, back foot is on the bench, heel is lifted, and you drop down into your lunge. So it's a forward lunge but the back foot is on the bench so it changes the level of this back leg. And if you want, you could always take that bench a little bit higher. To vary this, which is a little tricky to do, you could step back so that you're alternating your reverse lunges and your back foot is going to the bench. A little tricky to do. Again, adding your hand weights, we'll increase the intensity of the movement if you so desire. And here I am, stationary lunge, and it's just the back foot on the bench to change the intensity of the motion of the lunge.
