ALICE MONSAERT: This exercise is called walking lunges. Again, it's increasing the intensity of your lunge that you've probably done a million times. I'm just trying to show you some variations of what you can do with that lunge. We're going to choose our hand weights or our dumbbells to increase the intensity right off the bat, and I'm going to be travelling with the lunges. Remember your safety features for your lunges: stand nice and tall, step forward, lunge down, knee over the heel, knee underneath the hip, and we're walking as we lunge from side to side. I'm in a small space, but normally we'll be able to do about 10 to 15 repetitions down the length of the aerobic room or your rec room in your house. Your weights can be held down at your side, in the front, or up towards your shoulders, but don't allow them to rest on your shoulders so that you compromise your spinal alignment. So, again, you're just walking, taking large steps and going low as you comfortably can. If this is your range of motion, that's fine to begin with. If you can get down lower, then you're going to incorporate more muscle fiber and really start to define those legs.
