Relaxing the Core in Yoga Exercise for Seniors

Welcome to Expert Village. This is Fran Dukehart. In this segment is about relaxing the core. We are going to take the time to slowly comedown to the mat one vertebra at a time. Then gentle inhale, lift the pelvic, ball up, placing the ball underneath the tailbone; and through a deep inhalation we will fill the belly like a Santa Claus, and then we are going to use the fingers to gently jiggle as we exhale with a ya, yu, yeh, and a laughing sound. This is to help relax the core energy that we have been strengthening and building, we are going to completely release it and let it go. So this is geared towards relaxing the psoas. Here we go beginning, stabilizing our feet, pulling back one vertebra at a time. Taking our time to lengthen the back of the neck, feeling that the middle of upper back come down to the mat gently, and then we take the ball and place it right underneath the tailbone, opening the fingers wide, putting it on the belly. Inhale deeply, expanding the pelvic belly, exhale slowly, half way at the exhale began ya… yu… yeh… hah… So we release it again. Inhale deeply, exhale completely ya… yu… yeh… hah…. And then relax, let the arms take it out to the side, close the eyes, let the back of the neck be long, feel the feet grounded. Feel the gentle extension in the low back, let the upper back lengthen, soften the gaze, relax the face, relax the hands. From my center to your center… Namaste.
